2/19/2000 Report
A charitable fun-fair for underprivileged children was organised by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission in connection with the ongoing THANKSGIVING WEEK Celebrations.
About 400 children from mobile creches and others from balwadis gathered together at the Mission Campus to watch a colourful programme put up by St. Mira's Primary School students. Pune Mayor, Shri Dattatreya Rane lit the lamp to inaugurate the Mela. Dr. Shrikant Kelkar, Pune's leading ophthalmologist was the Chief Guest at the Function.
In an inspiring address to the children, Dada J. P. Vaswani urged them to realise the tremendous treasure of the Spirit locked inside each one of them, and march forward to build a brave New India of the future. "None of us poor", Dada observed. "God is with each one of us, and therefore, nothing is impossible for us."
Each child was presented with a school bag and given coupons with which to buy from a variety of delicacies on offer at the stalls.
Earlier in the day, a Free Gastro Enteritis Camp was held at the Mission's Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital. Patients who had registered earlier were given preliminary screening for gastro problems. Deserving patients were given appointments for further medication and treatment.
